Austin, TX, May 23, 2011 – Austin Shareholder Robert (Bob) D. Burton was honored with the 2010 Award of Excellence in Government & Public Affairs by the Community Associations Institute (CAI) at the organization's Annual Conference and Exposition in Boca Raton, Florida, earlier this month. Burton served on the Federal Affairs Task Force for CAI this year, addressing federal issues that have become relevant to the industry. In particular, regulations promulgated by the Fair Housing Administration pertaining to condominium lending and project approval.

CAI is a leader in providing education and resources to the volunteer homeowners who govern community associations and the professionals who support them. Burton is a well-known real estate attorney who represents owner and developer controlled residential, commercial, and mixed-use owners associations (both large and small) state-wide, and has volunteered for several programs that support the members of CAI.

Besides his work with owner/community associations, Burton also represents local and national clients in the acquisition, development, operation and administration of residential and mixed use condominiums, resort and master planned communities. He has acted as lead counsel to the developer of the W Hotel and Residences and the 360 Condominiums, both in Austin. He presently acts as lead community governance counsel to the developer of the Mueller Airport Redevelopment, Steiner Ranch, and a number of mixed-use developments throughout the state.

Additionally, Burton serves as co-chair of Winstead's Mixed Use Development group, which is recognized as one of the premiere legal teams handling mixed-use development in major metropolitan areas locally and nationally. They have worked on many high profile projects, including Victory in Dallas, Pearl Brewery in San Antonio and the Omni Convention Center Hotel in Fort Worth. Winstead's Mixed Use Development group provides skilled attorneys who represent clients in lending, leasing, land use, permitting, construction and all phases of mixed use and condominium development.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance."

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
