Gulnur Bekmukhanbetova is a member of Winstead’s Airlines Industry Group and its Corporate, Commercial Transactions & Outsourcing Practice Group. She represents airlines in complex secured, unsecured and guaranteed financing transactions, the rules governing security interests under Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code, and the Cape Town Convention. She has an understanding of the aviation finance and leasing industry, as well as corporate, insolvency and tax matters arising out of such transactions. She has practiced in a variety of industries, including financial services, derivatives and structured finance, and energy. Prior to joining Winstead, she was an attorney based in Central Asia focusing on high-profile financing transactions for ten years.

Representative Experience

  • Acted for a U.S. airline on insured loans backed by aircraft with respect to two Boeing aircraft
  • Advised a U.S. airline in its 2024 trade payable advance facility in the amount of US$1 billion incorporating a guarantee from a parent holding company
  • Advised a U.S. airline in its purchase of three training aircraft, with an option to purchase additional seven training aircraft
  • Advised a U.S. airline in the series of four aircraft transfer transactions involving a Japanese nin-i-kumiai (NK) entity and a Japanese godo kaisha (GK) entity
  • Acted for a U.S. airline in negotiation and documentation of an aircraft engine lease, assignment and sale transaction

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance." 

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
